Love your friends and family? Adopt VoIP to stay in touch
Keeping touch with friends and family in distant locations is not merely a want, but a need for many people.
While costly international calls could be seen to put some consumers off picking up the phone, adopting voice over internet protocol (VoIP) could mean that staying in touch with loved ones is that bit easier on the wallet.
The emergence of the internet has meant that many communication hurdles can be overcome thanks to the growth of internet phone services and VoIP, You Tring reports.
Cost-effectiveness and advanced features associated with VoIP technology make it an increasingly valuable asset for people who want to stay in touch with long-distance friends or relatives, without hindering their monthly telecommunications budget.
Nisha Garg, speaking for the company, advises that VoIP can be utilised on both computers and mobile phones, meaning that people do not even have to be tied to their desktop in order to partake in a conversation with those they care about.
"The advantage of free calls helps [a] number of people in their day to day communication. This money saving benefit gives people an opportunity to keep in touch with friends and family without spending much," she added.
But it is not merely consumers who can benefit from the cost-saving advantages that VoIP technology has to offer.
The Register recently reported that one in four UK businesses have found that adopting the VoIP medium has meant that they have been able to cut down on the number of overseas trips that employees took, as online video conferencing devices act as an effective alternative.
Additionally, implementing the technology will allow companies to conduct face-to-face meetings with disruption-free and high-quality calling.
Similarly, TMCNet has previously advised that VoIP telecommunication strategies can be useful in terms of recruiting non-UK residents, as the medium enables face-to-face interviews without the interviewee having to travel thousands of miles to the UK.
VoIP is not only a cost-cutting measure in the international calling arena - Peter Readman, director of ttmobiles has noted that the service is the "absolute lowest cost solution" and it can act as an effective strategy to reduce telecommunication bills.
His comments came in response to recent research from ttmobiles, which revealed that the average company spends one-third of its phone bill on paying for employees' personal phone calls, amounting to a value of more than £1 billion per year.
And it would seem that many businesses would agree with Mr Readman's thoughts as a survey by IbisWorld at the end of 2009 suggested that revenue gained from the VoIP industry could rise by 150 per cent by 2019.
