VoIP 'should be used to save companies money'
More companies should make use of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and utilise WiFi for business calls, according to Damovo UK.
This could help them reduce some of the £264 million which, according to the Information Communications Technology service provider, is wasted each year by companies on mobile phone calls.
Glyn Owen, portfolio manager at Damovo UK, said mobile spend in a lot of organisations had "crept up".
He added that many organisations have held back over using their WiFi to handle voice applications and business internet solutions because of fears about cost.
Mr Owen remarked that the majority of people in the UK have WiFi broadband routers to their laptops.
He commented: "There's no reason why they shouldn't be used to carry mobile calls from their homes into the office at no cost at all using WiFi providers."
Research from Damovo UK revealed that large enterprises were wasting more than £200,000 per year on mobile calls.
