'No better time' for VoIP
A telecoms expert has said that the current economic climate represents an ideal opportunity for small businesses to implement VoIP systems.
Speaking to Italian website voipblog.it, chief executive officer of 3CX Nick Galea predicted further growth across the VoIP industry in 2009.
He said that small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) will continue to add VoIP networks to their infrastructure next year because "there has never been a better time to do this".
Mr Galea explained that a growing number of SMEs are recognising that VoIP can enable them to "save on call costs, [reduce] administration costs and increase productivity".
He added that the growth in software-based PBX systems is expected to further drive the move to VoIP in the small business sector next year.
Last week, networkworld.com predicted that SMEs will be the main driver of new VoIP networks in 2009, as small operators can be "more nimble" than larger firms in altering their IT systems to solve problems.
