Virgin Trains installs Wi-Fi
More business travellers will be able to make use of VoIP services on their commute to work following the announcement that Virgin Trains is to fit a number of its carriages with wireless local area networks (WLANs).
Passengers on all Pendolino Virgin Trains travelling along the West Coast Main Line will be able to take advantage of Wi-Fi internet access throughout their entire journeys, including all tunnel sections.
They will be able to purchase HotSpot passes to access their emails, the internet and other web applications, such as VoIP, from any Wi-Fi enabled device.
Graham Leech, executive commercial director for Virgin Trains, said: "We're always looking at ways to improve the travel experience for our passengers so we're pleased to be able to answer their requests for access to the internet on our trains."
Last month, a study by Motorola revealed that more than a third of European businesses are installing WLAN security products in order to protect themselves from internet-based threats.
