Small technology companies 'underpin' UK market
The business internet solution market in the UK is underpinned by small technology companies, an expert has said.
Carrie Hartnell, head of industry strategy at Intellect, which is an information technology and telecommunication association, said that it is important that small companies were nurtured.
She added that there are a large number of small companies who are involved in IT services and software.
"The smaller companies basically form a foundation for the technology industry in the UK," Ms Hartnell explained.
According to research from the International Data Corporation and Microsoft, the IT sector is expected to contribute to economic growth by creating new jobs at a rate three times faster than other industries.
The IT market will create 75,000 businesses over the next four years.
Business internet solutions have been shown to be important as, according to Booz and Company's research, spending on developing the sector has risen by four per cent.
