Network solutions 'require planned approach'
Business leaders have been advised to plan carefully to get the best out of their network infrastructure.
According to Damovo UK, many firms make the mistake of implementing network solution changes in "an ad-hoc way" instead of properly considering the impact of new applications on performance.
Glyn Owen, portfolio manager at the firm, said that a lack of planning is currently one of the principal strains on network performance among businesses and can be linked to budget restrictions.
"A lot of organisations in the current climate are under severe pressure from their budgets and I don't just mean by the capital expenditure they've got available, but also their own resources in terms of perhaps doing the sort of level of planning they need," Mr Owen commented.
He said that networks are now often required to support more applications in the modern office environment, such as VoIP services and video systems.
A survey conducted by Damovo UK found that 82 per cent of UK organisations are currently concerned about their network performance.
