'More with less' approach set to boost virtualisation
Many businesses will look to virtualisation as a way of streamlining their IT operations this year, it has been claimed.
Noting that the virtualisation market improved "in leaps and bounds" during 2008, itproportal.com believes that the technology is set for further growth over the next 12 months.
This is because the website expects businesses to subscribe to a policy of doing 'more with less' in 2009, aiming to cut costs through the optimisation of their IT and telecoms services.
"Getting the right people for the job will no longer mean recruiting the skilled labour or contractor, it will be more about ensuring you have the right services aligned to your operation," the website predicts.
The industry portal also anticipates that desktop virtualisation will be a "key driver" of the overall market this year.
By implementing this technology, firms will be able to leverage their existing products into a"flexible, cost-effective [and] simpler way to manage desktop environments".
Last year, Interphase chief executive officer John Biglin claimed that virtualisation is rapidly emerging as a "strategic solution" for disaster recovery.
