Collocation hosting 'reduces effect of recession'
Collocation hosting options - in particular cloud computing - can reduce the effects of the recession for businesses, according to one technology expert.
Michael Sheehan, writing for Web 2.0 Journal, says that cloud computing has proved to be a "financially viable way to survive" an economic crisis.
He adds that the growth in collocation services such as cloud has meant that businesses have not had to spend as much of their budget on technology.
The expert predicts that during 2010 there will be a rise in the number of providers who will offer hybrid hosting systems, meaning that companies can have the "best of both worlds" with a combination of physical and cloud environments.
Mr Sheehan concludes: "The sky's the limit when it comes to cloud computing."
According to Web Hosting Unleashed, cloud computing can be implemented by companies for a fraction of the cost of hardware and other devices, while freeing up internal resources as an in-house IT team will not be necessary.
