Cloud computing 'the only way to go for homeworkers'

Cloud computing 'the only way to go for homeworkers'Colocation services, in particular cloud computing, are the "only way to go" for small businesses that have employees who work from home, one expert has advised.

Paul Rosenfeld, co-founder and chief executive of mobile marketing firm Fanminder, tells PC World that cloud computing can also benefit companies that have remote employees and board members who need to access data from locations outside of the office.

Additional benefits of the technology include offering easier communication with colleagues who are in distant locations, he adds.

Back-up worries can also be eliminated by adopting the strategy, as cloud-based services are simple, secure and reliable, while requiring no maintenance from the user.

Judith Hurwitz, co-author of Cloud Computing for Dummies, explains that implementing the technology means that small businesses can "stay focused, be more collaborative and bring products to the market more quickly, because they've got access to the kind of infrastructure that only large companies used to have".

This view was recently echoed by Steve Reynolds, chairman of the Mobile Data Association, who advised that cloud computing can offer businesses a huge flexibility of scale.
