Wi-Fi business internet solution developed

Wi-Fi business internet solution developedA new business internet service has been developed that will make it easier for different devices to connect to each other.

The Wi-Fi Direct (WD) lets users make peer-to-peer connections on an ad-hoc basis.

But John Dunn, editor of Techworld, said Wi-Fi could be a compromise on security for firms.

"If you're going to set a link up between any two devices in any context then the wireless has to be encrypted," he added.

He explained that encryption should be set as standard and compliant with a company's security to avoid complications.

The Wi-Fi Alliance announced earlier this month that WD could be used to make sharing, printing and displaying among colleagues much easier.

It would also allow for flexible homeworking as the Wi-Fi devices could be used to connect to each other without having to connect to a traditional hotspot or network.

But Fortify Sortware claimed that because WD devices bypass wireless access points they could become a security threat.
