Online security deployment 'should be improved'
It is vital that businesses improve their deployment of online security to improve their disaster recovery.
Business internet solutions and up-to-date methods that guard against the latest threats are crucial for companies who wish to avoid their weaknesses being exploited, a report from Microsoft has said.
The study revealed that in the second half of 2008 there was a 100 per cent increase in the number of worm attacks taking place.
It also suggested that the recession would lead to intensified efforts by criminals to exploit potential weaknesses and capitalise on vulnerabilities.
According to Paul Evans, director of intervention at the Serious Organised Crime Agency, the internet is easily abused.
He added that it was "essential" to mobilise the country to fight to make the internet a safer place.
"It's about partnership, it's about engagement and it's about mobilisation - that's all about communicating," he explained.
The Get Safe Online Report 2009 revealed that more than half of Brits have either been a victim of online crime themselves or their colleagues, friends and family have.
