Mobile working 'can boost small businesses'

Mobile working 'can boost small businesses'Embracing new business practices such as mobile working could help small enterprises to survive in challenging economic conditions, it has been claimed.

According to business technology website zdnet.co.uk, mobile working can have an "extremely positive impact" on smaller firms by boosting the performance and productivity of teams, as well helping to retain talented employees.

The website claimed that, at a time when small and medium-sized businesses will have to "take stock and revise their plans and strategy to continue to be competitive", setting up a mobile network for workers could be one method of staying ahead of the game.

It added: "The important thing to remember is there is never a bad time to start a good business."

Zdnet.co.uk also recommended that small businesses save on telephony costs by using VoIP to conduct meetings and consultations.

Office space directory Choregus claim that a growing number of firms are using VoIP to eliminate the need for "costly face-to-face meeting"

Managed VoIP provider 8el also stated that by using location-independent IP Centrex technology, such as 8el's CallPort service, companies can plan for users to work remotely, whether permanently or occasionally. All that is required is a business broadband connection, a log in code and PIN numbers for any IP phone based on the network to access the companies network resources as if they were working from their office desk. This provides small companies a boost in both cost efficiency and productivity by maximising their employees time and reducing unnecessary travel.
