Microsoft urges investment in blended working environments
Businesses have been urged to invest in technology that can enable remote working to take place in light of the predicted surge in swine flu infections over the winter.
Computer giant Microsoft said it is vital for organisations to invest in technologies such as online data storage and document sharing services.
According to the company, such solutions should be considered by IT managers who are keen to avoid any disruptions to their organisations' operations.
Microsoft Worldwide Education vice president Anthony Salcito said in a blog posting that the flu pandemic "highlights the need for institutions to think more holistically" about blended working environments.
He went on to say that the online solutions can become handy when disruptions occur by enabling the connection and sharing of information at all times.
In addition to ensuring continuity, such disaster recovery measures can help businesses become more productive by enabling home working as well as multi-site functionality.
