IT business solutions 'central to UK's recession recovery'
The IT sector will be "central" to Britain as it recovers from the recession, according to e-skills UK.
More businesses are likely to use internet services and network solutions in the future and technical experts will be needed to help operate these.
Karen Price, chief executive of the not-for-profit organisation that provides IT advice for development, said all industries currently need and will continue to utilise highly skilled technical professionals.
"There is an arguably even greater need for business-focussed technologists who can understand business needs," she added.
Ms Price explained that these technicians were needed to manage technology projects that deliver "direct business value" and to use IT to solve business problems.
Her comments come after a report by e-skills UK showed the number of IT support technicians increased by 14 per cent in 2009 compared to 2008.
Further growth in IT sector related jobs was found for Operations Technicians and Software Professionals.
